Iain grew up in Carluke, South Lanarkshire before moving Perth at 17 to study audio engineering. It was working at a Domino's pizza outlet that Iain gained his first experiences of marketing and he hasn't looked back since. Iain went to night classes to get the extra qualifications he needed to get into university. He was accepted to study Marketing and Media at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2005.
He become a 2008 Saltire Scholar at working on a marketing project with SPIE in Washington State. Iain says: "The Saltire experience lights a little fire inside you, and with every day that passes that fire gets a little brighter. It shapes the choices you go on to make with your life, and teaches you to be a true believer in your abilities". The year following his placement, Iain graduated with first class honours after picking up two academic awards at university and winning the Marketing Society Scotland's graduate marketer of the year.
Iain has just started up his own business a digital marketing consultancy called Digitonic (www.digitonic.co.uk) here in Scotland. He says "we're still young and a bit exposed, but we're doing well so far with some excellent clients. It's hard, hard work - harder than I ever thought, but I wouldn't change this for anything. I'm pushing my own boundaries and being pushed by the people around me as well. This is my new comfort zone. It's hard to put into words exactly what the Saltire Foundation has done for me, but pay attention, because it's huge, powerful... life changing."
