Tell us a bit about your background…

I was Born Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, attended St. Helens primary school and Turnbull high school. I have had a strong passion for business from a young age and more recently have become interested in digital media (graphic, web design etc.)

From high school I went straight into Glasgow Caledonian University to study international business. I picked this course due to my strong passion for business and my desire to learn about different cultures and places.

My first business venture was from the age of 16 where I started a custom t-shirt printing business. More recently I have started some graphic and web design work and have also had a taste of events management.

I also have a passion for music and like to DJ. I Started DJ-ing as a hobby when I was 14, however in 2010 I got my first professional residency gigs in two local bars. I have also had numerous gigs across the country.

Tell us a bit about your Saltire Foundation internship…

My internship was in Fort Worth, Texas and was for TAESL (Texas Aero Engine Services LLC). I was working in the customer business department (which is really marketing). On a daily basis I would shadow the customer business director to meetings with other departments and also business lunches and dinners with potential customers and existing customers. My independent task was to re-design the company website and brochure and to create a magazine for the company. My major accomplishments were learning the dynamics of a large company and becoming more of a leader and taking control of my assignments.  I also really enjoyed working with people from a completely different background from myself.

What did your Saltire Foundation experience meant to you?

The Saltire Foundation experience confirmed my ability integrate into the 'real world' and utilize the available opportunities. Being given the chance to work for a large company in a different country enabled me to develop various skills which I will use for the rest of my life. The experience has also increased my confidence and has given me the belief that I can achieve my ambitions and goals if I work hard.

Plans for the future?

After university, I intend on taking some time out to put together my own digital media company. I would also like to develop my current business ventures and new ideas that I come up with. Lastly I would like to do some more travelling, and expose myself to new surroundings.
