Project Activities and Key Roles

To help Geneva Operations in having a more detailed and accurate understanding of its cost drivers and for this information to then be used to ensure business charging arrangements whether internal or to clients are appropriate.

This will include:

i) determining the actual operational costs for each transaction (per unit) that it makes and
ii) its costs for the operational services it provides to other Barclays Wealth locations.

The project will also include establishing a Management Information (MI) pack and a control process for operational monitoring of fee discounting, this will help the business understand where revenues are potentially being lost.

Required Skills and Abilites

The individual will be required to i) produce a project plan with defined activities, tasks and milestones, ii) identify and engage with relevant stakeholders and iii) determine data and information sources to enable the analysis to be performed.
The individual will be required to produce an end of project report covering work performed and all findings and review it Geneva Operations management.

Project Other Duties

The 3 main workstreams will be:

Transaction Costs - to perform cost based analysis (taking into account costs of resources, systems and external service providers) across all product types, including the settlement of securities, FX, deposits, payments and the booking of corporate actions and dividends, to understand the operational costs per unit by transaction type. These to then be compared against our client transaction charges to review for appropriate alignment.
Service Charges – the deliverable will be to assess all the operational services being provided to other locations (e.g. scope, volumes) and then to produce a model to allow us to understand accurately the full cost of the services being provided. These modelled costs will then be compared against the existing charging arrangements and any differences identified and reviewed.
Fee Discounting - design and work with the IT department to implement system generated reports across all transaction types showing all the fee discounting that has taken place for clients. To then use this data from the system reports, to produce a Management Information pack with analysis showing at a transaction / private banking team / individual level, the levels and frequency of fee discounting.
