Project Activities and Key Roles

Synthesis of novel organic small molecules in the laboratory.
Analysis of reactions and products using LCMS and NMR.
Function as a chemist in a multi-disciplinary team working towards a common goal.
Responsible for own safety and progress of own work in the lab and writing of lab notebook.

Required Skills and Abilites

Able to exercise judgment for safe working in the laboratory.
Good communication and problem solving skills working with other scientists.

Essential Attributes

Organic Chemistry (Synthesis.)
Experienced in basic organic synthetic laboratory techniques.
Work safely in a complex laboratory environment.

Desirable Attributes

Handling of air sensitive reagents, syringe techniques, purification of organic compounds using column chromatography, use of HPLC and NMR machines,

Additional Information

Opportunity to learn about other disciplines and how sciences interact to discover and develop a new medicine.

Project Other Duties

Interact with computational chemist, biologists and preclinical scientists.
Searching literature to find routes of synthesis.
