London Alumni Event Reunites Scholars of Past and Present

Last Thursday marked the first official Saltire Foundation London Alumni event, held in the London Caledonian Club. The evening brought together past and present Scholars, other Alumni and Friends of the Foundation, in what will hopefully be the first of many London Alumni occasions.

The event was held to celebrate the incredible achievements of alumni, supporters and the Foundation in London. Globalscot, Angus MacLennan was guest speaker on the evening talking about competence, professional development, belief and ambition. Having 34 years of business experience meant that Angus was able to offer invaluable advice to his audience including the belief that it is okay to take risks as long as you know when to keep going and when to stop. He also urged the Scholars not to feel "inferior in the least" stating that hard work is the key to success.

In addition to Angus's brilliant speech the audience was honoured to receive a few words of advice from Sir Willie Purves, who holds among many accolades the title of first Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings.

Saltire Scholars Lisa Cameron and Leanne Sherry also spent time discussing their individual Saltire experiences and what these have meant to them. This gave the Friends of the Foundation an opportunity to hear first-hand about how the Scholar programme benefits students.

The event concluded after an extensive Q&A session with Angus allowing time for socialising and networking. This was particularly prominent for Scholars who had not seen each other for a while.

A massive thank you to everyone who made it such a successful evening!
