BioTech in Boston

It's amazing how quickly time flies, yet it's also amazing how much you can achieve within such a short space of time.

Here I am, one week in, among the glitz and glamor that is the Massachusetts Biotech industry.  MIT is just around the corner, I'm surrounded by the global powerhouses of the pharmaceutical world, and here I am at Genzyme -  a company which to many is an American Idol, yet is probably relatively unknown within Scotland and the UK. They push the boundaries in everything they pursue:  be it delivering truly life changing therapies for some of the most debilitating diseases on the planet  - to having one of the coolest and greenest buildings the USA has seen for it's corporate center.  This is a company which seeks out the best and continues to innovate and look to the future in their quest to be the best.  So I'm in good company...

Now I'll be the first to admit, I'm not really a BioTech guy.  Let's just say I love my iphone and my MacBook more than love itself.  But I am a guy who likes to make a difference and put a "ding" in things. So having the chance to tackle something which others say hasn't been done, kind of gets my juices flowing.  And If I can at the same time get just a little insight into what makes these companies so great - then that can only be a good thing too..?

Saving lives and growing at 20% earnings growth is a tough gig.  But then no one ever said it was going to be easy...

What does genzyme have to do to become more well known globally...?  Is it important to them?

How does the entrepreneurial mindset permeate the companies employees, as it comes across that Genzyme is very industrious and creative as a compnay...?

Have a great time...as I know you will...Jim
