Ya Wee Stoater!!

Like most things in Texas, golf is played that little bit differently.....  Firstly, a prudent Tee Off time, like this one is 6.30 am!!  Why - I hear you ask..Well at this time in the moring it is how shall I put it...Tenerife on Vindaloo.  So by 11.30 am it's positively 'roastin!!'  As Simon hit his final approach to the 18th green, a thunder clap so loud that one could feel the air vibrate rasped from the sky above causing him to duck for cover....We laughed about it later... I'm just glad I was in the golf cart.

Secondly, our Texas cousins love their automobiles.  So why not have one on the golf course!  Great fun..I must admit.  Simon and me were fighting for the pilot seat everytime as carts are so much fun to drive.

And thirdly and I refer back to my blog,  Boostin in Houston, you don't want to lose a ball in the rough...!  Cause the rough belongs to the rattlers and other critters who reside there.. so it really does act as a deterent and motivates you to 'keep it straight.'

The cultural differences that separate Texas from Scotland are great fun and full of learning experiences...  And as a Saltire Fellow or anyone considering the Fellowship or undergrad programme,I have some thoughts for you that whilst cultural, are of paramount importance in developing your entrepreneurial mindset...

Whether you consider yourself an entrepreneur or believe..and rightly so...that you have what it takes to be entrepreneurial, gaining valuable global or international experience is crucial in today's business world.  Standing out from the crowd and offering a wider lens on your own business projects or to a potential employer is significant.  Playing golf is great fun and our Vice President at Shaw Pipeline Services,Garth Prentice, made it all happen for us, but it allowed us to meet other people, network and think about things differently.  And this is the crux of the matter for me.... entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial leaders think about things diffrently...with vision.  Anything that enhances this vision and fits a different lens to your gaze can only 'make you better.'

So now our Texas hosts have learned what 'Ya Wee Stoater' means...whilst we are learning from them in all contexts......!!

Enjoy American Memorial day....
