Your Service to the Nation: Join the Army of Entrepreneurs

"We need an army of the smartest, most passionate young people to try their hand at building a business—people who will take their heads and their hearts into the market, founding companies that will bring forth new products and services that will help humankind."

Iain mentioned Carl Schramm's Commencement Speech at the University of Illinois as a comment in the "Doing Well by Doing Good" thread - I'm moving it into a new post so it doesn't get lost in the comments.   Everyone should watch the speech - he's CEO of the Kauffman Foundation (http://www.kauffman.org), an organisation which the Saltire Foundation must look to for inspiration.

Cheers for the heads up Iain.

Video below and I've attached a pdf.

Hey Neil - magic thanks for picking this thread up. Glad it excited you as much as it did me.

It's a great speech and yes, the Kauffman Foundation having made investments to the tune of $1.5billion is a worthy inspiration for us Saltire's.  They certainly managed to deliver on their objective of "opening young people's eyes to the possibility of entrepreneurship."

Well certainly to this slightly older and grayer youngster.  But it's summed up nicely the great words of Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunis

"everyone is an entrepreneur, but only the lucky few come to know it."
