I don't know what it is this week - but I certainly feel there is a heady scent of optimism and ambition in the air at the moment.  It could be due to a combination of things: this weeks hugely successful GlobalScot event, the number of awards dinners taking place, or quite simply that Christmas is just around the corner...who knows...Here's my take on why it is.

This week, I've had a fantastic opportunity to meet with some really big dreamers.  The folks at Virgin Galactic - transforming the game in commercial space travel, Sir Ran Fiennes circumnavigating the globe across both polar ice caps, and some fantastic folks involved with the Gates Foundation - have to keep quiet about that one..!!!

All of these people have a degree of self-belief, optimism and ambition that becomes infections. - and they all beleive in one thing "NOTHING IS BEYOND YOUR REACH."  When people say "you can't do that," they  take great delight in proving them wrong.  When people say "it will never be done," they dig deep and find a way around these challenges and just make things happen.  And when people say "your going too far" - they respond by saying "not far enough."

I've always been someone who likes to dream big...After all if you don't have a dream - how you gonna have a dream come true...But to realise it - you've got to get out and grab it - with both hands...

Or as T.S. Elliot put it "only those who risk going too far, can possibly find out how far you can go."
