I recall this time last year. A few of the Fellows went to a nice bar, had some great food and watched the SuperBowl.
It's that time of year again and I am back here. Only this time, I am working. Having spent 3 months with ShawCor in Texas at Shaw Pipeline Services, as part of my Fellowship developmental experience, it's great to be back.
We have now opened up an office in Glasgow, recruited some great engineering staff and are developing systems to support our existing customers and executing on avenues for growth. I never thought I'd work for a corporate again. Never say never....
What a buzz....!
Everyday, when I am involved in my new role, learning the business, I draw on my experiences at Babson Business School and my interactions with the other Fellows. Using the skills, experience and tools that last year instilled within me allows me to gain early wins and add value to my new employer. [well I hope so...]
So anyone thinking about a year within the Saltire Fellowship in 2010, be warned - It's life changing and character shaping.
I'm off out now for dinner with my new Scottish team. It's Sunday and we've been in the office. Enthusiasm and a desire to perform for our Vice President.
I couldn't have written the script....
Sounds wonderful, Jim! I'm so proud of my "oldest child"!!!!! So, who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl??? The chili or the wings???
