Fruit Tea.....who me?

I have put together an acquisition team who all have great experience and give me counsel.  One of the team, Brian Williamson, is a leading Scottish entrepreneurial businessman.  Now, Brian attends lots of meetings and therefore has the opportunity to drink lots of coffee.  So, to watch his weight and generally cut down on his caffeine intake, he drinks fruit teas.  I found this a little odd at first.  In the States, they love iced tea, which makes sense as it can be refreshing in the heat. Brian will order a peppermint tea or a rasberry and orange with vanilla. There are loads to chose from. But hold on a minute.. A man drinking fruit tea....

As part of my new role, I had a full BUPA medical last week.  It took over 3 hours and covered a hole host of health areas: ECG, prostate, bloods, BMI, Vision etc...  When I came out armed with my full report, I realised why entrepreneurial dynamos like Brian drink fruit tea. Yes. I was healthy, but need to lose 4-5 pounds.  But, this experience really serves to highlight that one cannot take health for granted.  Just because one's brain races and is always 'on' - one cannot assume the same of the insides...

My new role with ShawCor is demanding and I love dealing with the Houston office after hours [6 hour time difference] But all I want to achieve will place stresses on ma wee body. So, making sure I capitalise it properly and look after its 'balance sheet' is paramount.

Whether its preparation for the Saltire Fellowship or a new role, considering the body as well as putting the mind to work is most worthwhile.

So, while I will still enjoy a latte, my next drink  will be a fruit tea.... who'd have thought it...Blackberry and apple!!

In these days of metrosexuals, fruit teas are just part of a whole cocktail of things that is good for the modern day entrepreneur. As you know jim we have seen many an entrepreneur eating humble pie which at times can be a dialy diet.

So be who you want to be but most of all be who you are.

Brian
