The first 20 days have been truly amazing, and we have done so much that it feels like over a month we have been here. As last year's fellows will know the intensity of the programme is quite daunting at times, but the style of teaching and learning is so interactive and challenging that it is really enjoyable. The attitude at Babson is so can-do and positive, which is infectious, and that positivity is backed up by real intellectual reasoning and practical experience. I am sure this is one of the main attitudes we will bring home.
For me it has been like taking my brain to the gym, and I am only now feeling fit enough to absorb and process the mass of learning and reading we are experiencing. We are being encouraged to wander and wonder - allow our minds to wander way beyond our comfort zones and to explore new concepts and opportunities, and to then wonder how we could learn and exploit those opportunities for ourselves and for Scotland. The other highlights for me so far have been:
1. The session we had with Marty Anderson and Anirudh Dhebar (two of the Babson faculty) discussing Wander and Wonder.
2. Jo's birthday last weekend - great food, fun and dancing.
3. Witnessing the live pitches by 4 entrepreneurs to the Boston Harbour Angel Investor Group - Les Charm organised for us to participate in this event early one morning on the Babson Campus. This shows the incredible access we have had already through Les, Anirudh and the other faculty to these sort of senior business people and events.
It has been good to start enjoying the sights of Boston this weekend we are heading out on the ocean to go whale-watching; heading to cambridge to mix with the Harvard crowd at a live music venue, and then we are off to see the Bosto Red Socks play their final baseball game of the season against the NY Yankees. (We've also got a ton of reading and work to do too - ouch!)More to follow in a few days........
Can do.... This is what separates the me too's from the entrepreneurs. Great stufff. Enjoy the Red socks.
Enjoy the Sox game - Fenway is good fun! It's worth going for a tour on a non-game-day as well if you get the chance.
Do pass my regards on to Anirudh too - I miss the mental workout you get from time with him!
Oh, and perhaps you'd like to explain the idea of "Wander and Wonder" to those who haven't done the programme!
