I have finally moved into a flat in Edinburgh although there seems to be more furniture and belongings than I remember collecting. Thanks to David Toy who has let me stay in his flat in Glasgow for the past few months. It was with some sadness that Rob, my husband and I left Orkney for the mainland. It's the start of a new chapter for us - Rob starting a new job and for me, the end of externship B and Fellowship is fast approaching.
But what a fab weekend in Edinburgh. Sun shining, people smiling and brunch with a few of the Saltire Sirens (Twitter @SaltireSirens). It was great to catch up with Sandrine and Joanne today, and I managed to resist the temptation to make them help me unpack. It was our final planning session for our Saltire Sirens Fundraiser for the Saltire Foundation - being held at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh on Saturday 9th July. We have secured corporate sponsorship, some amazing raffle prizes and been hot to trot selling tickets. Masquerade masks on - we walked around town in the sunshine promoting the event.
Amina has been working her magic from a distance - she has secured donations and support whilst in the midst of her mammoth Externship B project in Abu Dhabi! Big shout out to Amina - we miss you!!
We've also had great support from the scholars and previous year's fellows.
The past year has been amazing for me. Life Changing. Difficult at times - being away from family, moving every few months, getting out of my comfort zone - but it has been worth every second. Although my future career is still in formation, I know that I would not have the skills, confidence, networks and support without undertaking the Fellowship. My determination and drive to give back to both the Saltire Foundation and Scotland continues to grow.
Our entrepreneurial skills are being put to great use for the Saltire Fundraising Challenge - the Saltire Sirens are stepping up!
Get in touch with me if you want to find out anything about the Fellowship, my experiences or of course the Saltire Sirens event on the 9th July! Twitter: @becewing.
Bring on Monday!
