Hello everyone!
I arrived in Boston on Saturday after an uneventful flight, after reading the blogs from other people I have decided that it was not boring, as I had previously thought, and I am now grateful that there was no turbulence, dodgy seat covering or in fact anything else that some of the others have experienced. Luckily I had an exit seat so I had ample opportunity to stretch my legs despite a very nice but thorough ticking off from a stewardess for putting my feet up on the bottom of the door. I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to.
Waking up early on Sunday we decided that the best use of the free day was to familiarize ourselves with the city and especially the route to work. When we eventually found Liberty Mutual’s building we were taken aback by both the size and grandness of the building (see below). After this we had some lunch and were equally surprised by the quality of the food and size of the portions. Once we had got ourselves sorted out with T-Mobile US sim cards to ensure cheap calls between us we retired to our apartments. Later in the Evening we got some groceries and I had the dubious honor of cooking for the 5 other interns over here.
Today is my second day at Liberty Mutual in Boston and I am already getting into the swing of working life here. Yesterday consisted of an orientation and meeting my boss. She then walked me through my project for the 8 weeks. Basically I am tasked with finding promising leads from a database of associations. It certainly looks like an interesting and challenging task which I am really looking forward to getting stuck into.
Overall my first impressions of Boston are overwhelmingly positive and I am really looking forward to the next 8 weeks.
Hi Allan, Glad you arrived safely and are settling in ok, good luck with your project and hope all goes well. Cheers David
