Hello from Hong Kong

Well thought i'd also get in on the action of posting my blog. Im already on my second day here, so ill fill you in on whats been going on. I arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday night, flight was pretty average - no scary happenings, and made my way to my apartment. I am pretty lucky to have been to Hong Kong before otherwise i would probably have got lost by now in the mist of all the ciaos of the place; although I must point out that it is an incredibly safe place so someone would have helped me along the way. I did all the usual arrival events, unpacked, checked the TV channels that where available, went for a little food shopping and found out where my office was. Things definately picked up even more when I realised my office is in one of the major buildings in Hong Kong, im on the 50th floor and I can actually see my apartment from my office window! Brilliant! The rest of the night was spent falling in and out of sleep as jetlag is setting in slowly and feel it will be daunting me for another few nights.

My first day started off with a tour of the office, firstly by Elsa who showed me the safety procedures (always a must) and then by Alvin my buddy for the two months; someone I can go for advice on what to do. Alvin took me round every employee - please dont ask me any names - but at least I know their faces now. I have my own desk set up which is in the middle of the office as it is very open plan. This makes the office a good environment to work in as I can find people if I need them without feeling like I am interrupting. I was also informed that Friday is causal work dress day and at the end of the day there is a sitting area in the office where everyone comes to chat - looking forward to this! Next thing, I was being given a task to research an area of law for a client which involved research to make sure no new law had been implemented. This took up most of my day, except for my break at lunch time where the other trainees, interns and I went to a very nice buffet and I got to talk to everyone personally. They are similar in age to me and from all regions of the world so it is a good social environment to be. The end of the day definately came at a good time as the jetlag was definately setting in and I crashed when I got home!

Its my second day now and ive just set up shop at my desk, checking emails and doing my list. I have to go prepare a letter now for a client so ill post more later!

Hi Christina, I am on internship right now in Shenzhen - just across the border from Hong Kong, in China. I can actually see the Hong Kong buildings from my apartment in the distance. I'm hoping to get down there one weekend, perhaps you could be my tour guide? Enjoy Hong Kong, I am loving Shenzhen so far!
