Hi everyone, im laura and im studying International Business and Modern Languages at Strathclyde, my main subjects are Spanish and Economics and im currently workin for Bilfinger Berger in their Project Investments dept in Wiesbaden, Germany!  After a long journey to Frankfurt, myself and the other 2 guys were met by Ken who is on the board of directors for Bilfinger.  We then got treated to an amazing dinner in a lovely restaurant and dropped off at our hotel to chill before our first day the following morning! I was picked up at my hotel at 8.30 and taken to the office where I was surprised to find I actually have my own office and everything.. not bad for a wee intern! I was introduced to Charles, he is the guy who is going to be looking after me and make sure im doing plenty of work while im here and Mirko another one of the guys in our small team.  The project im working on with them is to introduce a new system of asset management, and so to make things generally easier for any project managers etc.  Because it is quite a small team working on the project im getting quite a lot of useful work to do so hopefully that will look pretty good on my cv when i graduate!

I was also shown to my appartment that day which exceeded all my expectations! Its a great place and only a 10 min walk from my office and 5 mins from the centre of Wiesbaden.  There is a huge tv aswell, the only downside being there are no English channels apart from the news and "hope" channels where you can listen to preachers all night.. I think i will have to invest in some dvds while i am here! Tomorrow the team are going down to the beach after work to show one of their clients an area for a new project they are bidding for so I have been invited to go with them which should be good to get better aquainted with everyone in the office!

So far everyone has been really helpful and friendly, and Wiesbaden seems a great place to live. After doing my year abroad in Madrid its nice to live somewhere where everything is within wakling distance! So thats all from me just now, hope everyone is having a great time so far xxx
