Watch out for the Trams!!

So week one is over and it has gone by so quickly! We spent most of the week preparing samples for the testing we will do next week.

I worked in tandem with my lab partner for the most of it, but on Friday I actually go to do some of my own work, it was really good and i learnt alot from it and now i have to present it at the next meeting. It isnt really important stuff but the team want me to learn and they want to make sure i actually know what I am doing so it should be a good experience!

I have had more time to explore the city its absolutely beautiful and the head of the lab I am in now is going to loan me a bike which will be great as its pretty flat here and its only a 15 minute cycle to France and about 20 mins to Germany so hopefully I can explore much more.

There has been a festival going on for the past week, people from about 30 different countries come in their traditional dress and play music and dance to their national sounds. I was slightly confused when i first saw a bunch of people walking around in kilts but then i heard the bagpipes playing and i rememberd what it was all about. Later on that day some of the people in the lab saw them and thought i would be used to is because they thought everybody in scotland wears a kilt everyday of the week, they did look slightly dissapointed when i said it wasn't true.

Roche employ hundereds of interns for the summer and I have been added to their mailing list so there is alot of things organised next week, so it will be ncie to meet the other people in the same position as me and hopefully make some new firends!

auf wiedersehen for now!
