I have spent my first week and a bit working for BAE Systems Regional Aircraft and I couldn´t be more surprised and fascinated about how my first week has been. A job that combined business and travelling was always what I looked for and I would definitely say I found it here! I walked into the Prestwick office at 7.55am last Monday for a fresh start after picking up my pass from security. I was really surprised by the open office and very soon I would realised the extent to which team work and frequent communication is necessary in this business. With no background in the aviation sector, I had two hard-core days of listening, absorbing and learning from different reps from each department, for example Customer Accounts, Sales and Publications, who were all enthusiastic, kowledgeable and always encouraged me to ask questions if something wasn´t clear. After this two-day crash course in a mix of aeronauticl engineering, business administration and marketing, I was sent off to Sweden to visit the first of three of their customers in the next eight weeks. The customer, a regional Swedish carrier, are a fantastic team as well as continuously learning about aircraft maintenance and checks, the highlight of last week was that one of my lifelong dreams has come true: I have been able to see a hangar full of aircraft on which maintenance is being performed... There are no words to describe what it feels like to walk around an empty plane the way an engineer, as opposed to a passenger does... I am confident that the next seven weeks will be as exciting and as enriching as the first one.
