Travels ahead

Week 2 is over and I'm looking forward to the new projects my team have got planned for me.  Most of my second week was taken up with organising a check list for Mirko, one of the other 2 guys in my team.  Because at the moment the investments side is a bit quieter due to the recession the company have taken it as an opportunity to get their asset management organised properly so right now the team I am in is responsible for doing that, so this involves a lot of work on excel and so far I have helped to create a default matrix which they are going to use as part of their new asset management system.  I found out last week that I have to help do the September edition of the company magazine as it is going to be on asset management, and I should get a few trips to Maidenhead out of it so I'm looking forward to going and seeing the other Project Investments offices and see how they work too.  Also, at the beginning of August my boss wants me to go to Luxembourg and work there for a couple of days so its another great opportunity to meet other people and cross some countries off my list while I'm at it!

So far thats all on the work front, I'll hopefully be starting some new projects this week and learning a little bit more about the financial side of things instead of the organisational stuff.  But I realised that even though the work I am doing isn't the most difficult of stuff, I am constantly learning, even if it is just by talking to other people in the office and seeing what its like to work in a business environment, which is something I have never done before.  I think I'm definately going to come away from my placement with a better idea of what working life is really like!
