My time at Liberty Mutual is coming to the end, as sad as it sounds I am very grateful I have been able to work for such an inspirational company for the past 5 weeks.
Liberty Mutual’s creed was created almost 100 years ago and the picture it paints is still apparent throughout the company. For example, the title of this blog is the new campaign Liberty Mutual is using for its advertisements. It is a simple but effective approach to marketing and conveys how strong their creed still stands today.
They claim to treat people with dignity and respect and to behave with integrity. This creed does not only apply to customers it applies to their employees also. I believe that this is what gives Liberty Mutual the competitive edge they need to stay ahead in a mature market. Such an ethical approach in business has proven to be successful for Liberty. They have so many achievements and are growing at a fast pace.
Within Liberty I am working in Personal Markets, they are the ninth largest writer of personal lines insurance in the US in this category. They have almost 5 million auto and home policies and their DRC conversion rate is increasing annually also. Why? I think it is because they enforce such a people friendly culture within the organisation that can be clearly noticed by potential customers – this image Liberty portrays attracts customers to this culture and makes them want to be a part of it.
From my time spent here at Liberty, I have learned that when it comes to applying for jobs next summer, I am not only going to decide a sector but I am going to ensure that I choose a decent employer that cares for its employees and customers like Liberty. I would like to be part of an organisation that is as friendly and welcoming as Liberty has been. Many employees that work at Liberty admit they were unsure about what their job was going to entail when they applied – they just knew they wanted to work for Liberty Mutual.
I am positive that when I graduate, Scotland will have plenty of employers that are just as successful and ethical as Liberty is!
