A story of success

The highlight of my week was defined by a meeting with Alexander Moschel, who is the head of Business consulting at Bayer. He is an extremely busy individual, but fortunately for us he took some time out of his schedule to have a coffee. He is a very impressive man who has accomplished a lot during his career. One of his achievements was setting up a business and selling it to a Nasdaq listed company during his time at McKinsey and Company (probably the best consulting firm in the world). Not only was it an achievement to set up and successfully sell a company, but he managed to do it while working at one of the most high-pressured companies (typical working hours would be easily (70 - 80 hour weeks) – very impressive. He was extremely humble and gave the impression of a man, who had never broken sweat in his life despite having achieved so much. He was also very interested to hear about the Saltire Foundation and of our experiences so far at Bayer. I took this opportunity to give out my first Saltire business card. I felt extremely slick and professional as I presented it saying very smoothly “heres my card”. Although the illusion was ruined when I had to take a half empty biro and scribble my details down! Oh well…

It was a great experience to learn from and hear about the career path of such a successful person. I only hope to follow in his footsteps one day!

This weekend was great. Myself and Jai ended up leaving quite late on Friday night after a bit of a work overload, so we ended up sitting outside at an amazing Italian restaurant. On Sunday we continued to take advantage of the beautiful weather, and managed to find some mini-golf!

Until next week.
