I have been home for nearly a week now and have slowly adjusted to the time difference and the much colder weather. It is certainly nice to be home. The last week in work was perhaps the most exciting one, it saw the culmination of my project the results of which I presented to my bosses manager and he seemed very pleased and interested in the results and told me he saw how the findings fitted into his future plans for the department. For me, this has been the single best thing about the Saltire Foundation internship, I was not photocopying, making tea or conducting other mundane tasks, I was working on a project which had strategic implications to the business and my work was included in the business plan for the next year, this gave me a great feeling of satisfaction in a job (hopefully) well done.
I think undertaking the Saltire Foundation internship has allowed me to develop personally a huge amount over the last 8 weeks. I feel more confident, more driven and more determined to succeed than I did at the end of third year. I can’t wait to apply these new found attributes to the graduate job market in Scotland.
Before I go I’d like to thank everybody at Liberty Mutual and The Saltire Foundation for organising such a great Internship, and Orla, Cat, Nicole, Kirsty and Susie for making the whole experience in Boston such an overwhelmingly positive one.
Finally I would encourage everybody to stay in touch with me through the Saltire Foundation LinkedIn group, or via Email at allan.paterson@strath.ac.uk.
All the Best,
Allan
Hey Alan - I saw you "develop" and that was just after 1-week. So can't wait to he how much you've grown after 8.. It was great meeting you folks, I'm sure we'll continue to keep in touch in the future.
As ever, feel to reach out for help. Even if it's some CV advice or which recruitment firms to aim for.
