Although it doesn't seem like it, it is very nearly a year ago today that I answered the phone to Irene Johnstone to be told I had secured a placement with Liberty Mutual through the saltire foundation. Whilst my previous blogs detail my experiences during my time in Boston I would like to update you all on what has happened to me since. As a final year student I have been largely busy with university work. I undertook a dissertation which was a consultative project with the charity Football Aid, something which I was helped immensely in by my saltire experience and the confidence and professionalism which it has equipped me with. A second major undertaking this year has been my involvement in the Saltire Foundation Alumni Association. It has been a pleasure to work with interns from previous years as well as my own to develop a framework for this organisation. We have been successful in developing functional teams to work in the various different areas which are required to ensure the success of the Alumni Association. I am looking forward to the continuing development of the SFAA and I am certain that it is an organisation which has a very bright future ahead of it. The final major undertaking this year is finding a graduate job, whilst I have not yet secured employment I am currently in the later stages of several application processes. A fact which I’m certain my Saltire Foundation experience plays no small part in. I have not yet had firm offers, but, hopefully I will have more news to follow on this point soon. Finally I would like to wish any of the 2010 interns who are reading this blog, having recently been informed that they have got the placement, the best of luck, and I look forward to meeting you.
