Hi everyone I’m currently a 3rd year marketing student at Strathclyde and soon to be a Wood Group Intern in Houston. I still can’t really believe I made it through the interviews, I remember getting the call and I was stuck in Doha and my biggest concern was making it back in time for exams due to the ash cloud; getting the internship didn’t really kick in.
I just ventured to London for my visa, and it was relatively pain free! The prospect of leaving for 8 weeks is really starting to kick in since meeting the other interns a few weeks ago. A group of 6 of us are working for the Wood Group, and after having met them my excitement has been building, there seemed to quickly develop a ‘team Wood Group’ at the Saltire meeting. I went to high school in Houston, so of course I am a little excited about going back to a city I consider to be a second home.
Our internship has 4 options for business students, and after having spoken to previous interns I think I am going to try and focus on 2 aspects to make the most of my time there. The staff at Wood Group have been so welcoming already that I am really looking forward to heading over.
22 days and counting until the adventure begins!
Kirst
