Hey folks! 11 days to go and part of me still hasn't accepted that I'm one of this years Saltire Interns! When I applied I just hoped I'd made it through the application process, and then couldn't believe when I made it through that and the interviews afterward. The Saltire team were very supportive in their calls and emails the whole way through and I'm beginning to realise now what a great thing it is to be a member of the Saltire Foundation. Thank you again for everything! I'm over the moon to have got the place and can't wait to fly out!

My internship is with Fresenius Medical Care, in their Reasearch and Development department, working on dialysis machines. It's based in Bad Homburg, just north of Frankfurt, Germany, so I'm well placed to get around the country. I only know about a handful of German words and phrases but have my dictionary ready! I study at Strathclyde University in Glasgow as an Electrical and Mechanical engineer and I've just finished 4th year. Hopefully (though I have no idea what to expect!) I can put the skills I've learnt to good use on my internship, explore a country I've never been to, and have tonnes of fun along the way! Now it's just the organising everything and the waiting thats killing me!

To all the other interns this year - best of luck! I know you'll all have an awesome time! Hopefully I may even see a few of in Germany. Work hard, party harder!
