The Hong Kong dollar is the 9th most traded currency in the world

-With land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

-There are 7,650 skyscrapers in Hong Kong, putting the city at the top of world rankings.

-Over 90% of daily travels (11 million)  in Hong Kong are on public transport, making it the highest such percentage in the world.

Safe in the knowledge I can now regurgitate any Hong Kong related Wikipedia fact at will, I'm now feeling slightly more prepared for my eight weeks in the far-east.

Seriously though, I still cannot comprehend how quickly time has went since I was writing that first application for my Saltire Internship.  I wasn't sure what to expect after submitting the application, though being the eternal optimist, I thought maybe I could sneak through to the first interview, and then I'd take it from there...

And here I am now, one week until my departure.  Needless to say it's always been in the back of my mind that I'm going to Hong Kong, but only this week did it really click when David sent over the flight and accommodation details that I'm actually going to Hong Kong, and what's more, in seven days time.

My internship is with CitiGroup and involves Expense Management.  Citigroup don't have a huge presence in the UK (at least on the retail banking side of things), however they (or their brands) are household names in Asia and the Americas.

Just realised a month after posting only half my blog came up!  The other half follows..

I study Accounting with Finance at The University of Glasgow, so my degree is entirely related to my position. I've just finished my third year, I'm going into my final year upon my return and it's hard to believe that after just 5 more classes (and the dreaded dissertation) that my degree will be finished.

So, this coming week will involve (hopefully) getting everything organised.  I'm quite last-minute (last-minute, not unorganised) so I've come up with the groundbreaking idea to pack my case a few days early to see if there's anything missing, that way I'll get a lovely sleep on Friday night.

Still hard to believe that this time next week I'll be swapping the east-end for the far-east, tenemants for skyscrapers and my part-time retail job for an Expense Management Project.  Although, I might be able to get some decent Chinese food...
