Well so far so good... No drama fiding the building on the Monday which was what happened in my dream on the sunday night, so I was hugely relieved when I was by the front desk ready to begin the orientation. This was a two hour session with HR finding out about Liberty Mutuals beliefs as a company and what to expect during my time with them. It was a great ice breaker for all the new interns. The weather has been a mixture of sun and showery rain most of the week; I was gutted to find that the rain had followed us from Scotland when we landed at Logan International airport. It just started to rain when we left Glasgow, then it started to rain an hour after we got to Dublin and then... yes you guessed it; rain in Boston.
It has been a great first week at Liberty Mutual, the office building is massive and has marble corridors and a set of silver and gold elevators. Its quite cool. Its the sort of office that you feel the part, when your toddling down the marble hall in your heels. I'm on the tenth floor, right at the top... Woo Hoo! I met my supervisor today; Kim Park, she had been on holiday Monday to Wednesday. She seems like a nice lady, and very smart so I will be able to learn alot from and enjoy working with.
Next week I will have a luncheon with Helen Sayles who is the Global Scot at Liberty Mutual who has organised my Internship, so I am definitly looking forward to meeting her and thanking her for making this possible. I have also been invited to the Liberty Mtual Networking event at the Radison Hotel on between the 4th and 6th of August where Liberty Mutual are putting us up in the hotel for two nights. So this is something to look forward to next month. It is a mixture of business networking and social networking so it will be well worth the attendance.
This weekend I will be exploring Boston with the other Saltire Interns, I would like to have a walk through the Boston commons, the Freedom trail, and lets not forget the shopping :D
