Its completely unbelievable that I am now half way through my second week already. The time is going too fast...
This week has been great; I recieved my project list on Monday which lists 5 projects in different areas of the department which is brilliant. Liberty Mutual is veryu accomodating in the sense of allowing me to participate in projects where I have an interest. I will be doing some competitor analysis, market research and product development via my various projects. I had a meeting with a woman named Nazneen; she is in charge of the group benefits department in Boston, she was very helpful with handy hints for activities I should check out whilee I ma over here. She was keen to make sure that I am participating in projects that interest me and if there were any other areas I wanted to get involved in. She was very accomodating and I greatly appreciate that. She also wanted to check that I was adjusting to my life here for the next six weeks.
Today I met Helen Sayles, the woman in charge of Liberty Mutual Group's HR department and the Global Scot here in Boston. The other Liberty interns and I were treated to lunch I one of the posh meeting rooms. It was great to hear about Helens experience here in the USA and at Liberty. It was good to e able to talk to someone who has experienced alot in the business world and has been successful. It was good to hear from her the value she put on the Saltire programme, it made me realise all over again just how lucky I am to be taking part in this brilliant experience.
In terms of outside of work activities, the saltire interns at Liberty all went to the beach on saturday which was great. It was so hot and there were shark warnings which was weird, we go in the water though, just in case jaws made an appearance. We also went to Bunker hill to the Obelisk and climbed 264 steps which nearly killed me, however the veiw was well worth it. We also went out for a mexican meal on friday topped of with a few margaritas.
