THE 'INCITEFUL' INSIGHT’

'Gaining an insight into the business environment' was a phrase I commonly used when going through both the Saltire Foundation’s and BAE Systems' application process. I now feel that I am realising this intention and actually 'living' the phrase. Following a further week of immersion in technical specifications, phase reviews, risk reviews, action plans, post offer submissions, capture plans, technical subdossiers, triangles of fortune and various meetings, I have become much more aware of just what it takes to manage a large project effectively. It has also enabled me to identify those areas of business which I am most interested in and, consequently, I am beginning to establish clearer ideas about just what it is I wish to do once I finish university.

I am now getting to know quite a few people in the business development department and, through talking to as many of them as I can and asking numerous questions, it is interesting to be given their differing 'takes' on particular aspects of the work. I am hopefully going for a tour around the shipyards next week which should be really interesting.

Just thought I would leave all the international interns with one thought……..this weekend in Glasgow it is going to be 15 degrees Celsius with moderate showers and I, for one, shall not have the hassle of worrying about sunburn!
