Can’t believe this is the end of my third week already, time is certainly flying buy. During my time at work I have been working on two new women’s healthcare products, supporting the Region Europe and Canada marketing team. Both my projects involve working on the launch campaigns for the new products, and how to target the individual consumer as well as G.P’s and National Health Services. Something interesting which I have learned, and something which my colleagues find very difficult, is that when launching a new product, in its advertisement you cannot use its brand name of any colours or symbols associated with the brand of product. Indeed, I am finding it hard to understand how exactly you can promote pharmaceutical products, and have a lot of reading up to do on the laws regarding it. This is hopefully something I shall become an expert on by the time I leave.
When reading through the Global Brand Plan for one of the products I saw a SWOT analysis and was so happy that I actually recognised something. I know that a simple SWOT analysis is nothing to shout about but amongst all the pharmaceutical talk and abbreviations, scientific tables and medical diagrams, seeing a good old SWOT analysis made my day!
I have joined the intern beach volleyball group, and now play every Tuesday, Bayer has its own sand pitch. When I first went along I thought it would just be some fun, hit a few balls, build a few sandcastles….but no. There are actual proper volleyball rules and they take it quite seriously. However, everyone was still really nice to me even with my complete lack of skills, and assured me that I would be welcome back every Tuesday; however I think this may be for entertainment value! I also met the group for coffee and cake on Sunday, as I have been told my many people that this is a German tradition, and it is one that I shall certainly be sticking to.
Hope everyone else is having a great time
