Probably the most exciting thing at work this week was the VIP opening of a new Tesco Extra store in a city about 2 hours from Krokow, which myself and the team helped organise. Two hours prior to the start of the event, the venue was still a building site so it was like DIY SOS or Changing Rooms or something with everyone rushing around trying to get things done. The actual store was amazing - the biggest Tesco I've ever been in with a mini shopping mall incoporated and restaurants.
The event was a success with a great band and a fantastic buffet!! Our charity efforts were also successful and we raised a substantial amount for a childrens foster home charity that Tesco polska supports, I also lent my hand to the media team and it was great to see everything in action and 'network' with all the big Tesco bosses and PR companies.
Appart from that, I have completed my web breifing ahead of schedule while juggling other mini projects like presentations, narratives, making promotional films and generally checking all English language documents before they leave the building, hehe.
This weekend was really good - the festival was awesome, such a fab atmosphere with amazing bands (I was especially surprised by 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse who were incredible live - however not my usual choice). We had some great meals out, drinks and, as always, some shopping. The market is back in the square so we were able to pick up some great bargains and presents for people back home.
Today and tomorrow I'm just tying up loose ends before the weekend. Last weekend in Krakow!! Christel and I are definately going to make the most of it, i think another meal and drinks with a couple of our colleagues is on the cards, more shopping and some last minute sun before we're back in the drizzle - im really going to miss the good weather!! I think im going to freeze when im back in Scotland, I've become completely accustomed to the 30 degree heat.
Anyway, that's enough of my ill-ordered ramblings. Have a great last week everyone!!!!!!!!! look forward to seeing you all back on British soil. xx
As an ex Tesco guy I'm quite familiar with these events (from the perspective of ashelf stacker) - did they get all the staff to applaud the 1st customers through the checkouts?
hahah no they didnt, it was a bit of a snobby VIP opening and unfortunately there werent many employees there, more like the mayor, local politicians and minor celebs, media, big chair people from tesco and some random members of very well dressed public. Oh and Preist to bless the store!! (Im not sure how they constructed the guest list). The applause would have been hillarious though, i wash they had done that. Where abouts is your intern this summer?
