Home Time!

So... this is it! I'm all packed up and ready to go but I have some time before I need to head to the airport, so I thought now would be a perfect time for my last blog written from Switzerland!

In a few hours I'll be leaving the city which has been home for the past 8 weeks and now, looking back I can think about the truly amazing experience I've had out here. I have learned a lot about Finance and working in a business environment and also lots of other things which come from living abroad. I'm sad to be leaving and sad my time as an intern is over, but not too sad as I know I have so much to look forward to!  I'm excited to go back to University for my final year and I now feel much more prepared to choose my career path and start to look for graduate jobs.

This week I have had plenty of time to reflect on my internship and have had a couple of review sessions with my colleagues. I met with my manager, Richard Taylor on Thursday to discuss what I've got out of the internship and I was pleased to hear that he valued the contribution I have made to the company.

Yesterday I met with my project supervisor, Louis Kleynhans, to discuss my assignment. The project I have been working on has its final presentation to the business partners on Monday, so unfortunatelty I will miss it. However, as Louis said, I have left my mark here as a lot of my work will be included in the presentation.

After the meeting with Louis, there was a little farewell party for me with the colleagues in my department. It was sad to say goodbye as they have been the familiar faces I've seen during my time here. Then I returned my laptop, my key, my badge, cleared my desk, and it was time to go!

I then went straight into the centre to do some last minute souvenier shopping and have a last wander around Basel. I spent yesterday evening packing and then went out to meet some friends.

And then here we are....it's time to go!!

I want to thank my colleageus at Syngenta for their time, advice and friendship. I also want to thank the Saltire Foundation (especially Sarah!) for giving me this opportunity and for their continued support throughout the internship - it has been great. But it's not over yet! One of the main things which makes a Saltire Foundation internship exceptional is that it is more than just 8 weeks and I'm looking forward to being invloved with the organisation in the future.

I better get going....wish me luck getting to the airport on the trams with my cases!!

Safe home everyone. See you in Glasgow!
