Well I feel I have a bit of catching up to do as I have been so busy the past week I have not had a chance to blog.
My final days at BAE Systems seen me jetting off to Dublin on my final overseas business trip. I had my last customer interviews to carry out with Dublin based company CityJet. Although it was my last interview it was by no means the easiest. During my other visits I got the opportunity to talk to 2 or maybe 3 members of staff and with only a pen and paper it was hard going. However, CityJet had 13 people all lined up for me to interview. I think my hand still aches from all the writing. I did enjoy a bit of Dublin life tho, Temple Bar, a pint of bulmers and of course the Guiness Store.
When I returned to Prestwick it left me 3days to get my final report writen and presentation prepared. My first presentation was on Tuesday to my manager and the rest of the team, it was quite laid back and went quite well, however, it was just a test run for the presentation on Thursday which was in front of around 20 people. I always knew that my Saltire Internship would challenge me and allow me to develop new skills. Well last week did just that. I carried out my presentation twice and had a meeting with the MD. Networking at such a high level within such a large global company was nerve wracking, but I done it!!! As for the presentations, they went well and I have been asked to do a 3 showing of my presentation to the Executive Committee!!! So just when I thought it was over................... the worst may be still to come.
Leaving BAE Systems at the end of the week was harder than I thought it would be. I have built a great relationship with the people I worked with and I really enjoyed the job. I found I was learning new skills and new things about the aviation industry everyday, and I never got tired of this. I must admit, I will not miss the early starts, but I will miss the cooked breakfast every morning!
I had one day off this week before staring back at my old job! I feel like I have never been away. However, I have recognised that my summer internship has given me a new drive and lease of life to succeed. Let me explain.......Before I got the internship I went to uni and worked my part-time shift in ScottishPower. I was plodding along, one might say. Now I feel that I have determination and end goal to work towards, I am no longer 'plodding along' but charging head on into my future! It is exciting!!!!
I will end my blog by saying Thank You to Saltire Foundation for the opportunity of a life time, providing me with vision and drive for the future and all round fantastic summer.
I hope to see you all soon to exchange stories!
Bye Ja x
