Amazing

If I was able to sum up this internship in one word, the closest I could get to describing it would be amazing! Right from the first afternoon meeting with Kenneth Reid at his home, getting to spend some time with a professional like himself was hard to believe at first. Walking around the village where he stayed, getting to see the real part of German life and just simply chatting with the man himself was epic! At times I had to pinch myself as I couldn’t believe I was sitting in a restaurant opposite a member of the Executive Board...on my first day in Germany!

Then getting to work in a company like Bilfinger Berger Project Investments, seeing how they operate and conduct their day to day business was so invaluable. Some of the skills I have developed and refined will be so important for me in the next stages of my career as well as my personal development. I have come back to Scotland telling everyone I meet about some of the things I have done and it is hard for me to comprehend everything I have done let alone anyone else.

One of my fondest memories has to be my night out in Heidelberg with my Boss Mirko. Firstly driving through the streets in his convertible sport car with our Rayban sunglasses on. Meeting his growing family then going out and meeting some of his friends as he showed me what Heibelberg really had to offer was phenomenal.

Even just sitting in one of the local parks back in Wiesbaden doing some work was sensational!

To anyone reading this blog thinking whether they should apply to become a Saltire Intern, I would say apply and get ready for one of the best experiences of your life! I can not get across what an invaluable experience it has been. From working long hard days and meeting tight deadlines too meeting some of the locals. This has got to be one of the greatest internships available...anywhere!!!

I would really like to thank everyone at the Saltire Foundation for everything they have done. Right from day one they have made the process so much easier. Even as I write my last entry I am still getting regular emails from the Saltire about different opportunities coming up in the future back in glasgow. What an amazing foundation! What amazing experiences I have had!

I would also like to thank Kenneth Reid and everyone at Bilfinger Berger Project Investments for having me work alongside them in Germany, it has been a truly mind blowing experience!
