Week five and I am melting. The heat in NYC is quite ridonkulous and my poor Scottish skin canny take it! Thank goodness for air conditioning!
This week at work has included quite a lot of location filming, trying to find suitable spots in the City to film and photograph the new ring designs. The rings are absolutely stunning, and we had to ensure we found the right spot with the sun shining down to highlight the beauty of the ring and to get those diamonds sparkling! When not filming out, I have been glued to my desk Photoshop-ing and editing footage like it’s going outta fashion! Not that I’m complaining – the office so cold, it’s like being back in the West of Scotland!! Recording Voiceovers caused some problems this week, as no matter where you go in Manhattan, it’s always noisy! But luckily, we sourced an empty office in the building which doesn’t have any air conditioning buzzing in the background – it was like a sauna but we got the work done! Thinking outside the box ;)
When chatting with my MV colleagues, I mentioned that this was my fifth week and they couldn’t believe it! I have been here longer than I have left! My last day at work seems to be fast approaching, and I want to make sure I make the most of every minute – especially at MaeVona. I genuinely love working here and feel I have definitely made friends for life with my colleagues! (cheese fest, but it’s true!)
Outside work, Jane and I have been doing some more exploring, sightseeing, shopping (of course!) and hysterical fits of laughter as Manhattan makes you lose your brain cells! Our Big Apple Dream had a dose of reality this week when we had a few problems with our accommodation, but we powered through and used our entrepreneurial spark and made sure everything was sorted – we also managed to get some complimentary tickets to Cirque de Soleil’s acrobatic rock opera Zarkana at Radio City Music Hall so it just shows you – good things come to those who stand their ground!
On Friday morning, Jane and I got up early and headed into the Rockefeller Plaza where the ‘Today Show” (American GMTV, if you will) was filming and special guest Cee Lo Green was performing! Just down the road, another morning show had a free concert and BBQ – but having a BBQ chicken for breakfast didn’t look so appetizing!
The title of the blog comes from mural I saw painted on the side of a building in the Lower East Side. I thought it was very fitting to the Saltire Experience!
So from here in the Big Apple, to you, wherever and whoever you are, have a great weekend!
