"Your Kid Sucks"

It is needless to say that this last week has just flown by. It seems like it was only a few days ago that I posted my last blog. We have been so busy this last week; I guess the saying is true. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.

We travelled to Dallas on Friday 15th which was a cramped journey due to the car being full. It probably felt longer than it was due to the radio stations over here only playing about five or six tracks so I’m sure that we all know the words now. It was a good weekend; we visited the stockyards on Saturday. There was so much stuff to do there, although it was very warm, but a dryer heat than this humidity in Houston. At night went out in Grapevine. On Sunday we went into Dallas and then drove home.

Still tired from the weekends travels Monday was difficult to get through but nevertheless the work continued. This week I have had lots of little projects to keep me going. I have still be working on the Bingo event that is happening soon. Along with the success stories for the website and writing articles for the intranet site too. I find it best to mix up my day with different tasks, I feel I get through more work when I work in this way.Big lunches continue to be a theme of this trip and we ordered a 28" pizza between 3 of us. we got plenty home with us in a box thats for sure.

We have done lots of things this week after work. We went to see the new and last Harry Potter this week, it did make me a little upset mainly because there will be no more of them. This week’s blog title comes from our time at the cinema, don’t worry you haven’t missed part of the movie. There was a little girl around 3 years old in with her mum and dad and she kept asking what was happening and just baby talking through the film and some people made comments during the movie and “Your Kid Sucks” was one of them.

We went to the Houston Dynamos vs. Bolton Wanderers Soccer (football) match on Wednesday, it was really good fun. Defiantly not a sport that the Americans follow, as the guy sitting behind us kept asking what had just happened and why a goal was disallowed etc. but did provide a great relaxed social atmosphere.

We had a girly night out on Thursday where Mallory who works in corporate communications took lizzie and I out to Painting with a Twist which was great fun. It’s a painting class which you can bring your own drink too. (see our final pieces below). It was great fun, although I did get paint all over me. We also went to the boys to watch a movie once we got back too, it was good to catch up with them. Friday the boys came to our apartment and we watched another movie and talked about our weekend and we decided we would just relax after a pretty hectic weekend previous.

We went shopping on Saturday and on Sunday I met up with some of my Boyfriends Family who stay in Houston. It was so lovely to finally meet them after hearing so much about them for years. It was great to hear another Scottish accent. It made me feel right at home which I appreciated a lot since I’ve been missing it a lot over the last week. I am so glad that we have the internet; Skype is just an amazing creation, although the time difference can be a bit of a nightmare.

I am having so much fun over here, Week 3 starts tomorrow...

Hi Nicola,

It sounds like you're having an amazing time!  I remember the tired Mondays after really hectic weekends.  I kept saying to myself that I'd 'relax this weekend' but I don't think it ever happened!

Can't wait to read next week's adventures.

Lindsay
