Get out of the freezer, it's my turn!

So its 2 weeks into my internship and myself and the rest of the guys seemed to have perfected a new talent...inhaling our food!! Seriously, what they say about portion sizes over here in America is so far from the truth...they are bigger! I’m going to have to get a little zimmer to ride about on soon as I’ll be too obese to walk!

Anyway I’ll start from last weekend as I’ve been a little late with this blog. The weekend started with a party at another intern’s flat where we learnt about the wonders of beer pong and flip-cup and got to experience a keg for the first time. The party’s over here are so different from back home, there’s so much going on and so many games (just various ways of consuming your beverage). Was so nice socialising with other interns outside of work, made so many new friends it was fantastic. Friday night was also the first time the infamous ‘elevated bed’ took its first victim. One of boys, poor soul, rolled out of the 4ft high monstrosity and hit the deck! I’ve slept hugging the wall ever since!

Saturday saw us taking a trip to the beach where we were a squad of milky bar kids amongst a sea of tanned bodies! Spot the tourist would not have been a hard game to play! A day of sun, sea, sand and Frisbee was definitely one of the best days we’ve had so far J Last weekend we also went on a high speed boat ride called ‘Codzilla’ which took us out into the harbour and absolutely soaked us, incredible fun! And as we are all so mature, since we were already soaked, thought it was appropriate to play in the fountains on the way back into the city. Safe to say we were the oldest ‘children’ playing there.

This week amongst after work drinks, one of the boys cooking us all a delicious meal and dancing to Motown for a whole night I actually made it into the office to do some work! It’s been another great week work wise, starting a new project and just working with such lovely people. I have began a compliance audit for Maryland which I am working on with a woman from Georgia so have been scheduling regular phone-calls with her to compare notes and generally just keeping me on track. Getting used to the programmes used in the office was tough at first but I am slowly becoming an excel wizard and am getting more and more comfortable with the rating programmes. I have also been involved in discussing the errors and outcome of my Massachusetts Audit which has been interesting having another person’s point of view on the situation pointing out anything I have missed but also informing others of issues that I have come across that need resolving.

This weekend was a freak of nature, the highest temperatures recorded in Boston since the 70s or something ridiculous like that. Again it was an intern filled weekend attending a party at Boston College which was a fab night, apart from the fact it was the hottest day of the year and there was no air-con! We all spent the night with a bag of peas, broccoli or lima beans strapped to our bodies taking it turns to climb into the fridge-freezer for a bit. Roasting! We also went to the Charles River to soak up the rays (which once again did nothing to my pastey body!) and take in the scenery.  Such beautiful view, definitely have to get involved in some kayaking on that bad boy!

That’s basically my week in a nutshell. It’s so difficult to write about all the amazing stuff we’re doing here.  Still having the absolute time of my life!!
