Week six accomplished!
Another week in the Big Apple has once again proven to be good’un!
My main task at work this week was to plan a Training Video for MaeVona to send out to their retailers all across the US and Canada to ensure the sales staff fully understand the MV story and connect with the brand. Throughout the week, I have been working very closely with the Sales and Marketing department to ensure I was completely up-to-date with ‘selling MaeVona’ and pitch to my manager how I envisioned marketing MV to a customer/retailer. I really enjoyed working on this task and working on sales and marketing strategies with my colleagues. After I had gathered all my research, it was off to the conference table armed with what would be the result of playing Supermarket Sweep in WHSmiths (or Staples if you’re in America ;) ). Scripting and storyboarding has been completed and given the green light by my manager, so pitching to the boss this week and getting filming started is on the horizon!
Friday saw a very different start to ‘a day in the office’. Julie, the sales and marketing director, is expecting a little bundle of joy in a few months, and Team MV decided to celebrate with a surprise baby shower! It was initially decided a few snacks, music and presents – but it turned out to be an Alice in Wonderland extravaganza! Marta and Becka completely exceeded themselves and constructed an amazing party, which Julie had no idea about and absolutely loved! As you can see from the picture, this was some office breakfast!! Sugar high before 10am made ‘working’ a bit difficult!
In other news, following my success mastering the New York Subway, I managed to venture to Brooklyn on my ownio transferring here there and everywhere (okay, once, but it was busy and confusing!) It was a smooth journey, yet a little bizarre thanks to my fellow subway riders who included a woman who sat and ate a full birthday-cake size chocolate gateau with a collapsible fork she took from her hair, and the ‘Hispanic Brother Trio’ who treated us with some live music on board! You never get that on Scotrail! I did some exploring and came across Brighton Beach (below) – it looks a bit different from the UK version ?!
So I only have THREE WEEKS left in New York!!! Time has gone by so quickly and I want to make sure my last few weeks here excel the ones before – which is a challenge I am willing to tackle!
Keep smiling, keep enjoying, keep working, keep blogging, (keep partying!) and keep making Scotland proud ;)

PS. The title is from Miss Congeniality which is on the TV as I write this blog – I haven’t got insanely full of myself living here (even though I was approached by a modelling agency while strolling down Park Avenue – I feel I should mention this “achievement”) !! ;)
