Hello from sunny Scotland! I am terribly sorry to hear about many of your thunderstorms but we have been enjoying some fine weather here in the homeland...mind you as I type this it is hammering it down on the roof of the Vets Now offices. However, a little ray of sunshine was brought to the office last Friday by our very own receptionist and Trolley Dolly, Karla. The sound of rattling metal along the corridor signalled 'Mocktail Friday' and we were treated to a selection of delicious beverages complete with their very own menu, bendy straws, umbrellas, cherries and orange & lemon slices! I can report that they were all delicious, especially the Cinderella and 'Mocktail Friday' will become a regular feature within the office. It also provided everyone with a chance to escape from their desk and have a proper chat with their colleagues, it can be so easy to get caught up with your work and forget there is anything else going on around you so it was really nice to break away and chat about silly things.
Back to work....and there has been a lot of number crunching on my behalf this week. I can honestly say that I have not had to do so many sums and workings out since my last real encounter in Standard Grade Maths....I HATE maths. However, I have found it very satisfying and rewarding being able to create all these assumptions myself and having all the figures to back them up! My business plan is also taking shape so I have to start making a move on the final presentation as I only have a week and a half to go :o
Tina and I participated in our first conference call this week too, our preparations finally came to a head and after some minor technical glitches, *cough cough* our first conference call was complete and we successfully gathered some valuable information to help us in our call handling project. There are still four more to go this week, so fingers crossed we continue in our success!
In more Vets Now news, (and so I can rave about the work that the company does...) a recent news story connected to Vets Now made its way into the press, thanks to the efforts of Roslyn who works in the marketing team. Last week an eight-week old kitten survived an hour session in a washing machine in Aberdeen! Princess the kitten was admitted to one of our Vets Now emergency hospitals to receive emergency care and miraculously survived. It's one of those feel-good stories that we all like to hear and I have supplied the link for the news story for anyone who wants to go and see how cute she is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-14308492
This past weekend my boyfriend also managed to persuade me to go and see Harry Potter...again! The first time was with fellow intern Tina but his relentless bugging and nagging to get me to go with him worked and I found myself donning my Harry Potter 3D glasses and cheering on Neville once again...pretty sure he's not going to like that I just said that! :p
'A Dog A Blog'
Meet Maisy! A beautifully well-behaved Black Labrador. Maisy lives in the I.T department and belongs to Gavin, who has helped me out on numerous occassions with my I.T malfunctions...I am currently onto my third keyboard! Maisy is three years old and is possibly the most polite dog I have ever come across; she has been trained to wait at doorways for you to walk through first before she follows! She is one of the most well behaved dogs in the office and I would even go as far to say, even more well behaved than some of the staff! :p
Two weeks to go!!
Blog soon,
Claire xoxo
