Hi Mum .... I'm on telly!!!

As the blog title might suggest this week us interns got to make our television debut!!!

A film crew had come in to film Vets Now and interview Richard Dixon, founder of the organisation, for a programme they are creating about why Scotland is a good place to work – we could have offered plenty of suggestions after going through the Saltire interview process. The camera man came over to the interns desks (the four of us sit at the same work station) and started filming us for a bit but we all got really embarrassed and acted as if our computer screens were the most interesting things we had ever seen in the world - a part from Abby who got the occasional fit of giggles.

The last couple of weeks in our blogs Claire and I have both spoken about the conversion project we had set up and had been given responsibility for. Over the last few days we have officially started the teleconferences. It is the most nerve-wracking thing when you know you have had the responsibility of setting it all up and have no guarantee that people are going to join the conference and participate in the discussion which would look a little bit embarrassing. However, despite a couple of technical glitches (that we luckily managed to quickly over come with the help of IT), the conferences that we have had seem to have gone smoothly. Particularly this morning’s conference where we managed to get a lively discussion on the go! The feedback has been good and as a result I think that Claire and I are going to be able to develop a list of key points and initiatives that could be used to help the organisation in the future – something that is very positive!

Last week Scotland actually experienced some really nice weather and Friday was a particularly hot day! As a treat it was decided that at the end of the afternoon we would all have a bit of down time after a really busy week and have some ‘mocktails’ (alcohol free cocktails seeing as most of us were driving). Karla kindly volunteered to step into the role of barista and she did an amazing job as the drinks were amazing! It was a really nice way to end the week and further highlights the good work-life balance that Vets Now have been able to create as an organisation.

It’s been really good reading everyone else’s blog and learning about what the rest of you have been up to during your placement and I look forward to swapping stories and experiences with you all when you are back on Scottish soil!

Until the next blog!

How exciting! You must send through the link to the programme once it is 'live'!
