Week Seven!
This week involved filming for numerous projects, so editing them all is a bit of a challenge! Making sure all the footage is in the right place is making my eyes square, but it’s worth it! I went to one of the Manhattan jewellers who sell the MaeVona collection – Michael C. Fina on 5th Avenue. What a store! Two floors of sparkles! And of course, it being on 5th Ave meant it was very swish! I was great to see MaeVona displayed in the store, and I must admit I felt very proud to when I saw the MV logo and pieces on display! I was working closely with my boss & GlobalScot, Maeve, this week filming interviews with her for the projects. Somehow we ended up discussing pizza crunchie suppers and other Scottish Chip Shop delicacies – I think it was making our American colleagues a bit nauseous! The main project I was working on this week was the Retailer Training Video I mentioned in my previous blog. I was filming in the office with two of fellow Team MV members which always ends up with a lot of laughter and a lot of great work! The picture below is the monstrosity I created to get the best shot – when ones tripod is not tall enough, one must think outside the box(es) ;) !
My multi-tasking skills were put to the test this week working on numerous projects at once and I am 99% sure all filming bases were covered! But luckily anything that has been missed out will be able to be re-shot this week when filming other projects! This week will mainly be editing time which may sound boring to many of you, but I am actually really enjoying it! Admittedly at uni, when working on film projects I dread the editing process, but I’m really enjoying working on my projects and making a few notes on a piece of paper into a finished film by myself. I feel I have gained a lot more editing skills and that I am becoming a bit more adventurous with editing techniques. In other words, I am a bigger geek than I was before I left Scotland!!
I began compiling my ‘Things to do before I leave New York’ bucket list this week. With only one more weekend left in the city (ohmygosh!), I want to make sure I have done all I set out to do – and more! Slowly but surely getting through the list, so these final two weeks in Manhattan are sure to be busy in and out of work!
On Tuesday night, Jane and I ventured to Radio City Music Hall to see Cirque de Soleil’s rock opera Zarkana. It was a great show, although extremely bizarre! When we walked in to the foyer, many of the performers were meeting and greeting the audience whilst in their extravagant costumes which included a creepy ragdoll, a creepy ballerina, and two creepy clowns (Jane does a great impression of the skit the creepy clowns got the most laughs for in case anyone wants a preview of the show before buying tickets! ;) )
Team NY also ventured to New Jersey this weekend to the most amazing mall EVER! Abercrombie and Fitch Outlet – that is all that needs to be said. (Although, thinking about it, I don’t think the bargains will seem like bargains when I get to the airport and they say my suitcase is 109kgs overweight…)
So week eight starts tomorrow. Second last week! I’m SO jealous of those of you who still have weeks ahead of you!! As much as I can’t wait to go back home, I don’t want this experience to come to an end! Living and working in Manhattan is a dream come true, and sometimes I still can’t believe it’s me doing it! They say home is where the heart is, and I’m pretty sure a part of mine will be left in Manhattan!
May your week ahead be as wonderful as you are!
