Week number five is underway. Sounds about time for blog number five (honest)...
In the week (*3 weeks) since my last update, I have become increasingly well settled into life at Trump International Scotland. The working day has become an unpredictable and every changing beast, with new tasks and responsibilities coming my way at regular intervals. Sarah Malone, my boss, was eager for me to get down on site to see how the project develops at first hand. This involved a couple of days with the greenkeepers, who were dubious as to weather an 'office boy' could hack it in the tough world of manual labour. Thankfully these two days were blessed with resplendent sunshine (perhaps the only two of my four week tenure so far), which ensured that I embraced the challenge and did my best to put in a good showing for myself and all other office boys out there! Apparently i succeeded in this regard and was invited back. Away from the course I have had the opportunity the meet a range of interesting and important individuals, from council leaders to executives and leading business men. This has provided a good deal of positive exposure and constructive experience. I have also been continuing work on the research that I am undertaking in conjunction with Jane, the saltire intern in New York. The hope is that this research will provide valuable information for the Trump Organisation as the project develops into the next stage.
But enough of work. What of my spare time? Sun bathing? Don't get too jealous but I feel I have managed to capture the weather system in summery Aberdeen with this snapshot of the beach.
Sun bathing may have been off the menu but that isn't to say that I haven't been kept busy in my spare time. One milestone was reached when I made my maiden voyage to Cadonas Fun Beach... but the less said of that the better! I have a few good friends from university who stay in Aberdeen who have been able to show me the ropes. This has included a trip to the Lemontree, out to Cults/Bielside and a disastrous couple of assaults on the driving range floor/roof/netting. I doubt if I'll be welcomed back there. In the mean time I'm barricading my bedroom window for fear that I will be looted should the rioting spread north. I feel that the rest of the Saltire Scholars timing in fleeing the country was fortuitous!
All the best fellow Saltire Scholars, I eagerly anticipate reading your forthcoming blogs!
Lucky you for getting to work on the course!
Hope you saw the update on our website today. We keep hearing great things about you!
Yeah that was a good laugh.
