Living the dream!

A quick introduction... I am Jane and my internship is with the Trump Organization at Trump Tower in New York.

Monday 9 am, standing on 5th Avenue, New York, just about to enter Trump Tower for the first time, was a totally surreal moment!

Trump Tower is very impressive - no wonder it is the third most-visited-by-tourists place in New York.  I am working on the 26th floor so the views over 5th Avenue, Central Park and across the iconic New York skyline are amazing.  My desk is in the centre of the office so I am literally in the middle of it all and feel involved in everything that is going on.  From my desk I can see into Mr Trump’s office and right behind me is the board room that inspired the board room of American Apprentice.

On that first day I was invited to lunch in Trump Bar with my two bosses, Dan Borbet, Legal and International Development Associate and George Sorial, Managing Director - International Development, Assistant General Counsel and GlobalScot.  It should have been totally nerve-wracking but both are so friendly and easy to get on with that they put me at ease straight away.  This is also where I met Don, Eric and Ivanka Trump!

Having watched people waiting to speak to Mr Trump all morning, it was after lunch that I had my introduction to the most famous businessman in the world, Mr Donald Trump himself.  He is just as he is on TV and I must admit to being a little star-struck at first.  Now I get to work with him daily!

Friday 4.30 pm, sitting on a bench in Central Park, having finished work at the end of that first week, was another surreal moment to mark the end of a week to remember.  I was definitely ready for a Trump Vodka and Energy Drink cocktail – and yes they have both!

My first week flew by.  I literally landed in New York on Sunday and hit the ground running on Monday.  From the first day I was given tasks and felt immediately involved with some large projects.  Every day has been so different, the energy is incredible and there are definitely some big personalities in the office!  Weeks 2 and 3 as an International Development intern passed equally as quickly and have been action packed (more news next time).  I love going to work every day.

Outside of work, life is very glamorous: shopping on 5th Avenue, after work drinks in a rooftop café, concerts in Rockefeller Plaza, chilling out in Central Park, and of course, the compulsory celeb spotting - I have seen the Manchester United football team in Nike Town (which is in Trump Tower) and Lady Gaga on 5th Avenue during my lunch break.

It definitely feels like I’m living the dream!

Hi Jane,

Regarding your internship with Mr Trump, we were wondering if you would mind talking to Moray Firth Radio news about it. If so could you please email news@mfr.co.uk or call 01463 227740.

Sounds like a great news story!

Thanks - Lindsey Maclean (Reporter)
