It is hard to believe that I am already more than halfway through my internship. Well, I guess time flies when you are having fun. In my last blog, I mentioned that I will be involved in more projects and the last week has been steadily busy. This week started off with a lot of work too and I think that Monday will now be one of my busiest days in the week. I started to come to work early on Mondays in order to get a head start which proved to be very helpful. I am, however, happy to accept the challenges and by being busy you just learn a lot and get better at what you are doing. A lot of my co-workers were impressed how quickly I came to grips with the systems and the work itself.
Over the weekend the Silicon Valley Symphony Orchestra gave free open air concerts on the SJSU campus. The event that was sponsored by local companies, featured a different musical genre every day. On Friday I went to watch them play Latin music and a lot of people came and brought food and drink, sat down or stood to enjoy the concert. Everybody was having a good time and it was nice to see how young and old, were enjoying the music and after some time a lot of people started to dance.
On Sunday we went to Santa Cruz with the Highway 17 Express Bus that takes the route of well who guessed it the Highway 17. This road is notoriously busy at weekends so that the buses often struggle to adhere to the normal schedules. As always the bus is very frequented and unfortunately, this time, all seats were taken before we were lucky enough to get our own seats. That meant we had to sit down on the steps in the aisle in the rear section of the bus. This was better than standing but still sitting there was not the most comfortable. After we arrived in Santa Cruz I was thinking that at least on the way back we would be able to get a seat but it would turn out later that we would have to sit on the steps again. Ah well, it was all worth it because Santa Cruz is a really cool place to go to at the weekend as you get to see the sea and enjoy the beach. This time - I am happy to report - we both avoided a proper sunburn while lying in the sun. In the evening we had food at an Italian Restaurant and we were positively impressed by the service and the food itself. That was one of the best Calzones I have had so far. :)
Next weekend we will be moving to a hotel in Santa Clara which is much closer to National and it will only take about 15 - 20 minutes from there to get to National. We have already started to switch gyms and have signed up for the gym at work. It will surely be a busy weekend: A trip to San Francisco and Alcatraz is planned on Saturday and it will take most of Sunday to move to the new hotel. By then I should already be blogging from a different location.
Sounds busy! Glad you are making a good impression at work and are finding a lot to do outside the office!
Also thanks for the postcard! We have it posted proudly in the office!
