Wow! A lot has happened since my last blog! The last 10 days have been absolutely packed and this is our first night in in ages!
Work has been incredibly busy, which is great and we are really kept on our toes with new tasks and challenges popping up every day.
Primarily, I have been putting to finishing touches to my presentation for Desmond, Chris and the sales team to use when meeting with prospective investors and customers. I have put so much time and effort into perfecting it that it is now like my baby and I have several back up copies on servers, different computers and in different folders as I’m so scared of losing the most up to date document!
I also got to work on our first Retail Investor Conference, which was pretty cool too. Envision had an allotted time to give an online presentation to what could potentially be 1,000 conference attendees. After the presentation, attendees were sent to a virtual conference booth where they could download our company brochure and product spec sheets (made by us!) and ask questions.
This was a really great experience, as I previously didn’t even know things like virtual conferences existed, let alone know how to put everything we needed for our booth together! Safe to say, Reuben and I are now experts in transferring files into different formats!
Aside from this, I have been working on updating the website and putting together a few ideas for changes to be made. This is what I think I shall be working on progressively over the next week and hopefully uploading my changes soon!
Even though we are half way through our internship, (I warn Saltire now Desmond is pretty determined that we are staying until the end of September!), everyone at work remains incredibly friendly and always makes an effort to involve “The Scottish People”, or “Scotland” as our area of the office is called, in everything. This week alone we have had dinner on the beach with Desmond and his family and had an office movie night, not including the all the dinner dates, cinema trips and parties with Irene!
This is exactly how I was hoping my internship would be when I first applied to Saltire and definitely the thing I love the most about working for a young and relatively small company, is that we feel like part of a family and that we are making a significant contribution.
We have also been in serious tourist mode recently too! Starting with last Saturday when Yvonne and I spent the day playing Top Gun on the USS Midway! We also managed a road trip this weekend (so American!) to Disneyland and L.A. It is safe to say that we all relived our childhoods and I even got my photo with Minnie, Daffy and Cinderella – ultimate dream come true!
Hollywood was cool too, but I’m pretty sure that was just because we could say we were in Hollywood rather than it being a particularly nice area!
We then ventured down to Venice Beach and had a wander around, making for some very interesting people watching!
Quite possibly the best part of the trip was seeing Yvonne’s face on the rollercoaster at Disneyland. Now bear in mind, we were at Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth, so we knew before getting on, it couldn’t be that bad! Yvonne however, managed to pull a face that made it look like an axe murderer was chasing her, making for a very amusing photograph that never fails to make me laugh! Sadly I have promised not to share this photo with everyone!

All in all it has been a successful week, with what is sure to be another great one ahead, as we have lots planned for both work and play. Yvonne and I are driving to San Francisco with Irene for a girl’s weekend and we are having a staff party on Friday night at our flat with the whole office are coming round for some traditional British grub! We also have plans for the weekend after to meet up with a few other Saltire interns in Las Vegas, so stay tuned for lots of photos!
