Terrified in Disneyland

We are more than half way through our time on our Saltire experience; it’s funny to think how much experience I have gained just in these 5 weeks.

So since my last blog, a lot has happened. Last weekend we headed off to Disneyland in Anaheim beside LA. I have to admit I am petrified of roller-coasters, although my fellow Saltire Interns Helena and Reuben had assured me that  California Disneyland had no big roller-coasters, well I soon discovered that just wasn’t true! When we went into the Disneyland Park, there was the California scream. This roller coaster had 3 huge drops and you went upside down, my worst nightmare! With a lot of persuasion and the fact that a girl half my age was standing beside me about to go on, I went for it. We started the ride by looking up at the hill the roller-coaster is about to climb, and all of a sudden the roller-coaster goes like a flash and doesn’t slow down the whole ride. At the end of the ride you can see the pictures taken, well I had no idea I could open my mouth as wide as I can when I scream, I was petrified.  However I did then go on to do Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Mickey fun wheel, water rafting,  Starwars and we went to see the water show at night, which was fantastic.

The next day we headed into Hollywood, we walked through Hollywood boulevard to see all the stars, and went to the famous Grauman Chinese Theatre. We then ventured over to the Hollywood sign which was the perfect picture opportunity! When then drove through LA to Venice beach were we had dinner, where all three of us took the American twist  on a British classic of fish and chips and enjoyed walking around the beach soaking up the atmosphere.

That week at work, we were still working hard on the financial statements, I feel I am understanding more about the way they are put together and the extra accounting which is required if the company is publicly traded. This  module is one which I will be studying when I come back in 4th year so is something I think is really going to benefit me in my studies next year.

This week our global Scot Desmond and his wife Polly took us to an Investors house for dinner, it was a great experience to meet John and his wife and get to know the people who are investing in the company you are working for.

We also had dinner on the beach with everyone from the office; we had some pizza and salad. Everyone from our office was there with their families, it was great to get to know everyone a little better!

Hope everyone else is having a fantastic time!
