Hello everyone, another late blog being posted (sorry Saltire).

I moved to Human Resources in week 3 and was there for 2 weeks. I was excited at the task of re-designing the HR SharePoint site. I was working with 3 people – Don, Bee and Connie - who were great throughout my time in HR. I am especially grateful to Bee and Will. Bee was 9 months pregnant and ready to give birth at anytime and considering the circumstances she was incredibly patient and helpful with me. Will was great as per, helping me out with some HTML code even though I wasn’t in his department.

The SharePoint was a success and Don was pleased. There were some issues with the site during the second week (again relying on Will for help, thankfully he cleared me of any responsibility!) but I managed to put something together and presented my work to Don, Bee and Connie on my last day.

One thing I have noticed how positive, trustworthy and respectful people are. I am honestly dreading going back to Tesco, from being monitored the second I walk in the door and listening to moans of how we don’t have 100% customer satisfaction (does that even exist). Anyway rant over.

Midway through week 4 we visited the Museum district with the Corporate Communications team.

The WEISS Energy hall was really interesting and I found out more about the oil industry. It was of particularly interesting as it allowed us to find out more about Wood Group does within the oil industry. We also visited the Texas exhibit which was enjoyable. I like history so I liked it more than the others, although there was a lot of reading. Last but not least we went to the butterfly exhibit – a large greenhouse with butterfly’s everywhere. What a day!!

During the week we met up with the rest of the interns at Cameron International. They were all from different parts of America so it was refreshing to meet new people!

Later that week we went to see the Houston Astros play Cleveland Reds at Minute Maid Park. I had seen very little of Baseball before coming but I never enjoyed it. The ticket was only $5, it’s the experience as they say.  On the plus side we got to see a fantastic stadium, even though it was only a quarter full. A yard long frozen margaritas made the night bit more interesting!

At the end of week 3 we headed to San Antonio to meet up with the guys from Team TAESL. Hotwire put us up in a fabulous Super8 only 5 minutes from the riverwalk.

The next day we hit Six Flags theme/water park. It was a fantastic place with some great rides; The Rattler and Superman were my personal favourites. The Rattler had a lot to live up to as we queued for approximately 90 minutes but it was definitely worth it.

On Sunday we visited the Alamo the site of the Texan revolution in 1836. It was great to see another part of Texan history and learn how many Scots died during the war. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos so I was denied the opportunity of a great blog photo.

In week 4 we welcomed some guests to Houston. Two members of Team TAESL decided to fly down to Houston and my girlfriend came across to visit.

On Saturday we went to NASA. We left it really late and it didn’t get to see everything. We spent most of our time on the tour of the premises, sitting in an open bus type thing which left us exposed to the sun and humidity.  However it was still a great day and another thing was crossed off the to-do list.

 Hope everyone is enjoying themselves!

Look out for the Vegas blog!

 Until next time…
