Hey y'all,
And so I’m halfway through my 8th and final week working for Jabil. Beginning to utter my goodbyes has made me realize what great friends I've formed over the last two months. I've already promised two of the guys a tour of Edinburgh when they visit, as both have plans to come to Europe in the next year. They are yet to be acquainted with the delights of ryanair, but that may be their only saving grace in an otherwise expensive trip! My boss (who owns a flat in Edinburgh) is hoping to visit with his wife in Easter of next year too, so fortunately the ties to Jabil and Florida will never quite be broken. Anyway, there'll be plenty of this nostalgic leaving blues stuff in the next blog, so for now, what happened in week 7?
This last week has incorporated the challenge of updating Finance Transformation’s ‘roadmap’; one of the sub projects that came out of our website revamp project. The roadmap is a bubble chart containing the various actions FT has come up since its initiation a few years ago; actions for both FT to carry out and ones agreed upon in collaboration with other departments. It is a quick way of looking at what stage each action is in, and what projects are on the horizon. Following the completion of this, the next task was adding an interactive version of it to go on our website, so that it is well distributed among finance.
Jabil took the whole of Finance Corporate out to prime seats at the Tropicana Stadium to see the Rays play Seattle. As well as being great as a hamburger and hot dog filled afternoon off work, it also gave me the chance to network with Finance generally, speaking to various people about my experience. Networking is something I feel pretty confident in, so it was fun to be let loose on everyone involved there.
This last weekend involved going out to downtown St Petersburg (buzzing nightlife), returning to Busch Gardens (thanks to my 2nd visit free ticket, and experiencing the silver screen delights of Captain America; a surprisingly good movie make of the classic marvel comic. Plenty action, swinging around, and even more lycra.
