It has been said that ‘the most valuable billboard real estate space in New York City is in Times Square." Times Square is one of the world's busiest intersections with an average of 500,000 people passing through it every day. Many say a billboard there is comparable to the effectiveness of a TV ad during the Superbowl. The Saltire Foundation image repeatedly rolled down on 15,000 square feet of bright LED exterior signage for all of Times Square to see. People were even trying to take photos of me having my photo taken in front of the photo on the billboard – definitely spreading the Saltire word!
This was thanks to The American Eagle flagship store’s innovative digital experience. It gives shoppers their “15 Seconds of Fame” on 25 storeys of advertising space in the middle of Times Square – a clever ploy by the brand to differentiate the store from its brightly-lit competitors which is so successful that it has become a social-media icon. The Saltire Foundation got far more than 15 seconds of fame as the photo billboard was shown over and over again.
Well done Jane for doing such a great job of promoting the future of Scotland. The Saltire foundation is a fantastic organisation with real benefits for Scottish businesses. The very best of luck on your return.
